As the person who literally wrote the book Just Send the Text: An Expert’s Guide to Letting Go of the Stress and Anxiety of Modern Dating, I’m all for … well, just sending the text. And not just in the literal sense. I’m also talking about the metaphorical sense: Be yourself! Don’t overthink it! Let your freak flag fly! Do whatever feels natural to you. For the right person, it will all be enough. I really believe that.
That said, I understand that when it comes to actually sending something like a “good morning” text, things can get tricky. Whether you are texting a new crush, the person you’ve spent years pining for, or even a serious partner, the stakes are instantly raised. You care about this person, so you don’t want to just send any old text, right? You want to dazzle. And that kind of pressure is what any writer will tell you is a surefire way to spark a dose of writer’s block. That’s where this list comes into play. Use it to get your creative juices flowing. Creativity and love go hand in hand, people!
